European haulage

European road freight from the UK to Italy and mainland Europe

Scheduled road haulage to Europe with payloads to 24 tonnes, customs clearance handled in-house and ADR-trained drivers for hazardous goods.

International road freight

Decades of crossing the Alps

Delphic has been running road freight to Europe since 1997. Long enough that our drivers know the Fréjus, Mont Blanc and Simplon crossings in all weathers, which of them closes and when, which customs posts move quickly, and where to park overnight. That counts for a good deal when a load has to be in Lombardy on a fixed morning.

We operate scheduled UK to Italy routes alongside wider cross-European work, with payloads up to 24 tonnes. It is international haulage on our own scheduled services, moving under CMR, with the customs side handled in the same office that plans the trucks. Take a full trailer, or share one through our groupage service to Italy and pay only for the space you use.

How we work across borders

  • Scheduled services to and from Italy, with collections any day of the week
  • Late-week collection in northern Italy, UK delivery early the following week
  • Customs clearance prepared in-house, every week of the year
  • ADR-trained drivers for hazardous goods on international shipments
  • Groupage or full trailer, express or standard

Road and rail

Intermodal where it suits the job

On some of the longer continental legs the unit travels part of the way by rail rather than by road. Where the route and the timings suit it, that means lower cost per tonne, less road mileage and a more predictable run through the congested corridors. Most work goes by road throughout; we use rail when it is the better answer, not as a rule.

FAQs

Common questions

Which European countries do you serve?
Italy is our core route, with wider cross-European work alongside it. Tell us the collection and delivery points and we'll confirm whether it fits our scheduled services.
Do you handle the customs paperwork?
Yes. Export and import documentation is part of the job on every European movement. See our customs clearance page for detail.
Can you carry ADR loads internationally?
Yes. Our drivers are ADR trained and we carry classified goods on international movements as well as within the UK.
What is intermodal, and why does it matter?
On the longest continental legs the unit travels part of the way by rail instead of road. It lowers cost per tonne, cuts road mileage and fuel use, and avoids the worst congestion.
