Customs clearance for UK to EU road freight, handled every week

Export and import documentation for road freight between the UK and Europe, prepared by our own office rather than learned on your load.

UK–EU customs

Customs paperwork, prepared in-house every week

Customs clearance is now part of every UK to EU road freight movement, and it is the most common reason a load runs late. Delphic handles it as a normal part of the job on every European run.

Since Brexit, every consignment between the UK and the EU needs customs formalities: export declarations on the way out, import declarations at the other end, and the right supporting documents travelling with the truck. Get one field wrong and the load sits at a border post.

We cross that border constantly, and it is all handled from one office in Winsford, Cheshire rather than farmed out. Our traffic office prepares and checks the documentation, works with customs agents on both sides, and tells you up front what we need from you. Problems get found before the truck loads, not at the port.

What we deal with routinely

  • Export and import declarations for UK to EU road freight
  • T1 transit documents raised in-house, for collection at inland border facilities such as Sevington or Stop 24
  • Commercial invoices, packing lists, commodity codes and EORI details
  • Incoterms agreed up front, so everyone knows who is responsible for what
  • ADR documentation where hazardous goods are involved

We do this in-house. Customs documentation is prepared by our own office rather than farmed out, and we raise T1 transit documents ourselves for collection at inland border facilities such as Sevington or Stop 24. There is no waiting on a third party before your load can move.

Customs work goes hand in hand with the freight itself. See our full range of services, European haulage for our scheduled continental services, groupage to Italy if you are sending less than a full trailer, and ADR haulage where dangerous goods documentation is involved.

FAQs

Customs clearance: common questions

What paperwork do you need from me?
Typically a commercial invoice and packing list, your EORI number, commodity codes and the incoterms agreed with your customer. We'll tell you exactly what's missing before the truck loads.
Do I need an EORI number?
Yes. Businesses moving goods between the UK and the EU need a GB EORI number, and an EU EORI if you act as importer there.
What is a T1, and can you raise one?
A T1 is a transit document that lets goods move through customs territory with duty suspended until they reach their destination. We raise T1s in-house, for collection at inland border facilities such as Sevington or Stop 24.
Has Brexit made European haulage harder?
It added paperwork rather than stopping the work. The difference now is choosing a haulier that handles that paperwork routinely instead of learning it on your load.
Can you help with temporary exports or exhibition goods?
Ask us. Samples, exhibition goods and equipment going out and coming back have their own procedures and we can advise on what your movement needs.
